This is the home of Rory Duncan, teacher of: Piano, Keyboard, Clarinet, Theory/AuralM: 0785 907 8788 | H: 01376 345 053 | E: firstname.lastname@example.org
Rory is in demand as a performer, both in big bands and in smaller ensembles.
Rory has a full PA system with SR Club 120/A powered speakers (sufficient for halls)
He performs with a Casio PX-350 digital stage piano
Rory is also a professional clarinettist and plays with a LeBlanc Esprit Bb clarinet.
He plays the electric bass (5 string) too and has a 500w TC amp and Mark Bass 15″ cab- enough for any gig
Rory teaches in 3 primary schools around Essex with around 90 pupils per week as well as his private tuition work. He uses a wide range of material for his piano and clarinet teaching.
He bases most early learning around the Alan Haughton’s ‘Play Piano’ series of books for learners upto 11 years old. He has tried the vast majority of other tuition books available and unfortunately, most are flawed. The Play Piano series prepare students steadily for their graded exams, around halfway through book 2.
Throughout this course he offers some ‘light relief’ in referring to more popular music from the ‘Making the Grade’ series, lots of popular music books and using some Disney repertoire too. He believes music should be fun and you really should enjoy the music you’re playing. At the moment, pupils are playing everything from Frozen, through Ed Sheeran, Zelda, Mario Bros and even Star Wars!
Theory books are used throughout the learning progress, exceeding the Grade 5 Theory exam required by ABRSM for progress beyond Grade 5 practical exams.
Rory has a 100% pass rate with practical exam ABRSM entries from Grades 1-8, either with clarinet, saxophone or piano candidates. He also has a huge experience of accompanying musicians for concerts and exams and has even accompanied choirs!

Shortly afterwards, he completed a PGCE (secondary) education postgraduate degree at Bishop’s Grosseteste college, Lincoln.
From September 2005, he has worked with the local council, teaching piano, clarinet and saxophone at primary schools through Essex. He currently teaches at 3 primary schools. He is currently subscribed to the government DBS (previously called CRB) check and is also a member of NASUWT. As he is a fully licensed private hire driver for another business, he also has had rigorous council medical and safety checks.
Rory enjoys salsa dancing and photography.
He also has a keen interest in technology and specifically, home cinema and movies to watch on it!
He has an interest in motoring and specifically, Ford, Alfa Romeo and Jaguar cars. He has a genuine American police car that he hires out for weddings and proms ( www.essexnypdcar.co.uk ) and who knows, you may even see him arrive to teach in it!
